Music is a huge part of everybody’s life. We don’t all appreciate the same musical styles of genres but we all have bands or musicians that helped us get through a tough time, we all also have the music we like to listen to when we’re happy, when we’re working out or when are getting ready for a party. We all have at least one band that we would kill to see live. For some of us, the dream of seeing our favorite band live will never come true, but sometimes, some bands choose to reunite, even for just one night and give their fans the time of their lives!
Here are 20 bands that reunited, which reunion excited you the most?
Guns N’ Roses
“Guns N’ Roses” is a classic hard rock band that was active between 1986-1993. In their peak era the vocalist Axl Rose, lead guitarist Slash, rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin, bassist Duff McKagan, and drummer Steven Adler delivered hits like “Sweet Child O’ Mine” and “Welcome to the Jungle”. The band reunited in 2016. Axl, Slash, and Duff toured North America and even performed in Coachella.
The “Spice Girls” were huge in the ’90s. The British girl group comprised Melanie Brown Melanie Chisholm Emma Bunton Geri Halliwell, and Victoria Beckham. Their stage names were Scary Spice, Sporty Spice, Baby Spice, Ginger Spice, and Posh Spice.
Their most remembered hit is of course 1996’s “Wannabe” which is still played in 90’s parties today. The band split up to work on their solo careers but those were practically non-existent. The girls reunited several times, once in 2007, and then again in 2012 and 2016. The “Spice Girls” have recently announced their 2019 tour and tickets are already selling, all spices are in apart from Victoria Beckham, she is leading a fashion empire so guess she can’t squeeze in a concert or an appearance, maybe she will change her mind.
The “Grateful Dead” was another classic rock band which is known for their eclectic musical style. They have sold over 35 million copies worldwide and their fans are known as “Deadheads”. After Jerry Garcia died in 1995 it seemed like they’ll never play again.
But, in 2015 The Grateful Dead announced they would reunite for 3 shows to celebrate “Fare Thee Well”’s 59th anniversary and finally hardcore deadheads got what they were waiting for!
The “velvet underground” is known for inventing alternative music. They split up in 1973 and by that, they didn’t even have any of the original members! Lou Reed who’s who was the band’s frontman and an amazing musician in his own right haven’t played with the band since the ’70s. But in 1992 that changed, when The velvet underground announced that would go on a European tour but after a while tension between Lau Reed and John Cale caused the band to split up again.
This classic English rock band from London was formed in 1964 and is considered to be one of the 20th centuries most influential rock bands, they sold over 100 million records all over the world. This band had its fair share of reunions. From a 1989 tour to a couple more during the early 2000s. Most recently they announced they’ll ill release a new album soon and that they’ll go on a tour named “moving on!” In 2019.
“The Replacements” were super popular in the mid-’80s but by the time they broke up in 1991, they weren’t doing that well and only had one original band member left, Paul Westerberg. In 2013 Paul Westerberg and Tommy Stinson reunited and in 2015 the band started a U.S. tour and a European tour. Their final show was on June 5th of that year when they finally called it quits for good.
This British rock band was formed in London in 1977, with Sting as the lead vocalist and songwriter, Andy Summers on the guitar and Stewart Copeland on the drums.
The band is considered as one of the first new wave bands who were successful in the mainstream. They were mainly popular in the late 70s and early 80’s and they split in 1986. They reunited in 2007 and while they didn’t record any new material they still gave a great reunion tour and made $362 million for it.
This American rock – pop group was formed in 1966 specifically for a TV shows and lasted till 1971 when they released the album changes which was a huge failure. Their reunion happened with help of both MTV and d Nickelodeon. They had a 20th-anniversary tour back in 1986, and they even reunited again for tours in both 2012 and 2013.
“The Cars” band was formed in 1976 in Boston by Ric Ocasek, Benjamin Orr, Elliot Easton, Greg Hawkes, David Robinson. They were a part of the 70’s new wave scene. They disbanded in 1988 after their album Door to Door failed to sell as many copies as their previous albums. They released a new album in 2011 titled Move like this. In 2018 “The Cars” reunited one final time, they performed in their own induction ceremony into the “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame”.
“Sleater-Kinney” was formed in 1994 in Olympia, Washington. They were heavily influenced by riot grrl and they are a major part of the American indie rock scene.
Corin Tucker, Carrie Brownstein and Janet Weiss are also known for their left-wing politics and feminist agenda. They broke fan’s hearts when they broke up in 2006.
But, in 2014 they reunited, and in 2015 they even released a new album. They actually found a lot more commercial success since they’ve reunited.
The “Sex Pistols” was a great band but they suffered their fair share of problems, form violence to addiction and just plain poor planning, this amazing band was completely wrecked by 1978, but after they had almost two decades to cool down the band reunited in 1996. The actually remained active until 2008!
“Pulp” was a huge part of the Britpop scene, and even though it was outshined by oasis and blur, it’s still one the best band of that era. The band’s frontman was the amazing
Jarvis Cocker, but even he couldn’t make this band last forever and they ended up breaking up in 2002. They reunited only 9 years later in 2010, they toured the world and even a documentary made about them called 2014’s Pulp: A Film About Life, Death & Supermarkets.
“Outkast” was formed in 1992 by rappers André “André 3000” Benjamin and Antwan “Big Boi” Patton. The hip hop duo found success between the mid-1990s to the early 2000s, they are known for experimenting with different genres outside of hip hop like funk jazz and techno. The duo split in 2006 but got back together in 2014 to play in some festivals.
This band was all everyone talked about in the late ’90s and early 2000s. Each and every teenage girl in the world haג their poster hung on her bedroom wall. The group brought Justin Timberlake who now has a successful solo career to fame. The group split up back in 2002 and they reunited in 2013 on MTV’s Video Music Awards. Of course, they sang their huge hit “Bye Bye Bye”!
“Led Zeppelin” is one of the most famous English rock bands. Founded in 1968 by Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones, and John Bonham, the band is considered to be one of heavy metal’s founding fathers. They were influenced by many different styles including blues and folk. After the tragic death of their drummer Bonham, the band split up. That was in 1980, the remaining members reunited in 1985 and then again in 1988 but their shows weren’t really that successful. In 2007 they reunited one more time, with Bonham’s son on the drums. They are now preparing to celebrate their 50th anniversary.
Fall Out Boy
“Fall Out Boy” was formed in 2001. They have some amazing hits that were stuck in everybody’s head back in the early 2000s like sugar, we’re going down. The band consisted of Patrick Stump, Pete Wentz, Joe Trohman, and Andy Hurley. Their album “Take This to Your Grave” is considered to be very influential on the 2000s pop-punk scene. They broke up in 2010 and then reformed back in 2013 and they have been going strong ever since.
“Destiny’s Child” was formed in 1997 and it gave us Beyoncé Knowles before she became just Beyoncé. They released a couple of albums and have found mainstream success, but in 2004 Beyonce’s solo career started to kick off and the band members went their separate ways. But, in 2013’s Super Bowl, the trio surprised everyone and reunited. Sadly the band hasn’t reunited since, but we’re still crossing our fingers.
This classic rock supergroup band existed for three years between 1966 to 1968. The band included Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker. But, they achieved a lot in this short amount of time, their album Wheels of Fire was the world’s first platinum double album. They are considered one of the world’s most successful supergroups. They reunited in 1993 when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and then again in 2005.
“Blondie” was founded by Debbie Harry and Chris Stein, it was a part of the punk and new wave scenes of the 1970s. The band has had some major hit singles like “Heart of Glass” and “Call Me”. They released a disappointing Lp IN 1982 and then disappeared. But, this story has a happy ending, they reunited 14 years later and they stayed together! Their latest album was released in 2017 and they’re still going strong.
“Blink-182” was formed in 1992. They were part of the early 90’s punk scene and gained some mainstream success. They are considered to be one of the most influential punk rock bands because they combine pop music melodies in their punk rock music. They sold over 12 million albums in the U.S. They broke up in 2005 and reunited again in 2009, they are active to this day! Today the band is made up of Mark Hoppus, Travis Barker, and Matt Skiba.
